Ernest Hall

Canton – Ernest William Hall, 82, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at his residence.

Ernest was a native of and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Branson “Brant” Broadway Hall and Ella “Ellie” Frady Hall Sanford.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Bart Hall; a step-son, Shane Milner; and a brother, Reverend Douglas “Doug” Hall.  Ernest always started his day with having his devotion and reading his Bible. His favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-7 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”  He was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church and retired from Champion International with 47 years of service where he had several years of perfect attendance.  Ernest loved wood working, gardening, flowers, fishing, camping and playing his guitar.  He was a gentle soul with unwavering patience who loved the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Juanita Liford Hall; two daughters, Vickie Wright (Jerry) of Canton and Kristie Lowe (Jimmy) of Harrison, ME; three step-daughters, Tammy Henry, Bequetta Phillips (Joe), and Leona “Buffy” Bradley, all of Canton; one step-son, Daniel Milner of Waynesville; a sister, Brenda Worley (Joe) of Canton; seventeen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Roy Houston officiating.  Burial will follow at Morning Star Community Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
