Ernest Duvall

Clyde – Ernest “Ernie” Lee Duvall, 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Charles George VA Medical Center.

A native of Swain County, he was a son of the late Marmon Gee and Ella Genevia Payne Duvall.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Howell Duvall, who died in 2011.  Ernie owned and operated Duvall’s Restaurant in Waynesville for 36 years and was a member of the Pigeon Valley Bass Master Club.  Ernie was a United States Marine Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Pressley (Kevin) and Lori Hicks (Mark), all of Canton; two sons, Terry Duvall (Nechia) of Canton and Roger Duvall (Penny) of Clyde; six grandchildren, Bryan Duvall, Morgan Ayers, Jordan Hicks, Lacey Dalton, Zakk Duvall, and Brianna Hicks; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley and Emily Duvall and Jayde Dalton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Tim Burnette officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunny Point Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
