ELIZABETH WHITNER SHELTON

Waynesville-Elizabeth Whitner Shelton, age 77, of Orion Davis Road, died Monday, November 4, 2002 at Autumn Care.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence D. and Martha Conner Whitner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Tilman Shelton, in 1992; a sister, Kay W. Grasty; a grandson, Dwayne Rich; two great-grandsons, James Ledbetter and Kaleb Shelton; and one great-granddaughter, Jessica Waldrop.

She is survived by six daughters, Margaret Green, and her husband, L.J., Beatrice Shaw, and her husband, Tim, Beverly Rich and her husband, Dave, Bobby Shelton Ramsey and her husband, Butch, all of Waynesville, Beulah Taylor of Canton, and Betty Gunner and her husband, James, of Sylva; three sons, David Shelton, Mike Shelton, and his wife, Eleanor, both of Waynesville, and James Shelton of Marion, NC; four sisters, Mary Lee Creaseman, Estella Arrington, Vergie Inman, and Annie Mauldin, all of Waynesville; two brothers, D. A. and Robert Whitner, both of Waynesville; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ernest Messer and Reverend Robert Stiles officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tim Shaw, Ricky James, Dave Rich, Tim and William Arrington, and Keith Waldrop. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2002.

Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
