Elizabeth Devere

Waynesville, Elizabeth Cody Devere, age 88, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018.

Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Boyd and Dorothy Laney Cody. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Devere, who passed away in 2016; a daughter Denise Devere; son Eric Devere; brothers, Bob and Jimmy Cody, and half sister, Blanche Burnette.

An avid art, music and literature enthusiast, Elizabeth was also a nature and animal lover. She traveled extensively throughout the world, taking with her a tremendous curiosity about other people and cultures. She spent a lot of time in Mexico, studying the music and culture of her favorite country. She loved meeting people, making new friends and sharing laughter. Elizabeth, a native of Waynesville, spent most of her life in California, returning recently to be closer to family.

Left to cherish her memory are three sisters, Margaret Biddix, of Waynesville, Joyce Hale, of Clyde, and Zoolie Davis of Maggie Valley; three brothers, Bill Cody, of Waynesville, Michael Cody, of Watkinsville, GA., and Bruce Cody of Boynton Beach, Florida along with many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Elizabeth's life will be announced at a later date.
