Cole Allen Spennati, Elise Ann Larson Spennati, Aila Elise Spennati, Gianna Rose Spennati Maggie Valley, On Tuesday, May 16, 2017 on I-95 near Lumberton, North Carolina, a tragic motor vehicle accident claimed the lives of Cole Allen Spennati, his wife, Elise Ann Larson Spennati, and their daughters, 4-year old Aila Elise and 18-month-old Gianna Rose Spennati. In spite of the overwhelming sense of loss and grief the Spennati and Larson families have been dealt, there exists a resolute peace and certainty that Cole, Elise, Aila and Gianna are present and safe in their eternal home with God and their Saviour, Jesus Christ. 1st Class MN1 Cole A. Spennati, age 25, was born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Louis Spennati, Sr. and Jenifer Worthy Spennati of Mount Union, Pennsylvania. Cole was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harvey Worthy and paternal grandparents, Marlin and Seba Mae Spennati. Cole was a graduate of Mount Union Area High School in Mount Union, Pennsylvania where he was a multi-sport athlete participating in track, basketball and cross country. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2011 and currently was serving as a Mine Man. In addition to his parents, Cole is survived by three brothers, Louis Spennati, Jr. and his wife, Sherry, Gene and Blake Spennati, all of Mount Union, Pennsylvania; maternal grandmother, Freda Worthy of Hamilton, Pennsylvania; and numerous uncles and aunts. Elise Ann Larson Spennati, age 31, was born in Keflavik, Iceland. She was the daughter of U.S. Navy military parents, Gregory Robert and Marla Elise Wike Larson of Maggie Valley, North Carolina. Elise was a 2004 graduate of Cary High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2011, serving almost four years. In boot camp, she was selected at RPOC for her company. Elise was also selected for Blue-on-Blue as a women's service advocate. Having been stationed on the USS Stout at the time of her discharge, she was Sonar Technician 2nd Class. In addition to her parents, Elise is survived by a brother, Dayne Robert Larson of Maggie Valley, North Carolina; maternal grandmother, Patricia Leith Schroeder, of Concord, North Carolina; maternal grandfather, Orville Lane Wike and his wife, Stella, of Sylva, North Carolina; paternal grandparents, Robert William and Phyllis Ann Larson of Laingsburg, Michigan; and several uncles and aunts. Elise and her husband, Cole, met and married while serving in the U.S. Navy. They were patriots who loved and served their country with pride. In their married life together, they were blessed to become the parents of two daughters, Aila Elise and Gianna Rose Spennati. Their entire families were so proud of their "angels" who were always happy and full of life. As a family, they enjoyed the mountains, camping, fishing, and fitness training. Cole especially enjoyed pitching horseshoes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Sanford L. Giles officiating. Military honors will be observed. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Christian Growth Center of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. The interment of the family will be scheduled at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
