Elda Applebee

Waynesville, Elda Lorraine Irish Applebee, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Haywood Nursing & Rehabilitation.

A native of Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late Preston Lambert Irish, Sr. and Floris Nash Irish.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Applebee, brother, Charles Irish and sister, Grace Blomquist.  She loved animals, playing cards and crocheting.

Elda is survived by two daughters, Linda Strickland, of San Antonio and Karen Truchon-Altieri, of Martha’s Vineyard; sister, Flossie Collins, of Florida; brother, Buster Irish, of Connecticut; eight grandchildren, Dashira Applebee Sawyer & Douglas Applebee, Jr. whom she raised as her own; and ten great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind Kay Nash and Billy Blomquist whom she also loved dearly.

A private burial will be in Connecticut in the Spring of 2021.

The care of Ms. Applebee has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
