Effie Worley

Canton - Effie O'Diear Worley, age 80, died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Swain County but had lived in Haywood County for most of her life and was a daughter of the late Columbus Harvey and Amie Kirkland O'Diear. She was preceded in death by two sons, J.W., Jr., and William Randy Worley. Effie was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved spending quality time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed dining out with her husband, Weaver. She is survived by her husband, James Weaver Worley; one daughter, Lavonne Webb and her husband, Fred, of Brevard; one son, Andy Worley of Canton; one sister, Frankie Ellie Brown and her husband, Elder, of Asheville; one brother, Getter O'Diear of Bethel; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Worley and Reverend Gene Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721, Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 21 Phillips Street, Canton, NC 28716 or to Beaverdam Baptist Church Building Fund, 2524 Beaverdam Road, Canton, NC 28716.
