Carroll Russell, 86, of Canton, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Wilburn Perry Russell, Sr. and Pauline Patton Russell. 

Carroll retired from Champion Mill after 42 years as a Chip System Operator. He also enjoyed working on the family farm and restoring vintage cars to place in car shows. Carroll was a “family man”, especially traveling and listening to the Grand Ol’ Opry with them. He was a gentle hearted man that never met a stranger. Carroll was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Canton, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Trantham Russell in 2021; sister, Frances Church in 2011, and brother-in-law, Steve Henson in 2006.

He is survived by his sisters, Joan Henson and Nancy (Harold) Henson; brothers, Hugh (Vicki) Russell and Skipper (Lori) Russell; brother-in-law, Joe Church and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Carrolls request, no services will be held, however family ask that his friends and family keep his legacy alive by sharing special memories amongst each other.
