Edward Michael Murin (Ed), 73, of Asheville NC, passed away in the arms of his daughter on July 20, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends on the days leading up to his departure.
Born on October 21,1950, in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Edward (Sr.) and late Sophia Murin
Ed developed a remarkable talent for both art and boxing. He graduated from York Academy of Arts and Millersville State College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. His passion for art, particularly landscapes, the Civil War, and the Vietnam War, led him to travel extensively, including a memorable trip to Dominica. His artwork was featured in numerous magazines, earning him recognition and admiration in the art community.
Ed shared over 40 years of marriage with his late wife, Mickey Murin. Their enduring love and dedication to one another were evident to all who knew them. He found joy and fulfillment in his work at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Asheville, NC where he spent over 20 years working for his friend, Dennis Hulsing of Hulsing Resorts. During this time, Ed made countless friends and touched many lives with his kindness, sense of humor, and generosity.
Ed is survived by his loving children, Sophia Murin ( daughter) and Joseph Cofone (son), His loving sister, Dolly, his beloved nieces, nephews, his grandchildren, Ava and Mia, and many lifelong friends who held a special place in his heart. His nobility, humor, loyalty, character, strength, and multiple talents will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
A memorial celebration of Ed’s life will be held at the Crown Plaza Resort 1 Resort Drive in Asheville NC 28806 at 1:00 pm on August,10,2024. Friends, family, coworkers, and all who knew him are welcome and invited to come
Ed’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the friends and family who were there to help during his brave battle with Cancer

The care of Mr. Murin has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
