Edna Wright Henderson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Mission Hospital. She was born on April 15, 1940, in Haywood County to her parents Claude and Louemma Clontz.
Edna had a fulfilling career as a Machine Operator at BASF. Her dedication and hard work were evident in her professional life, where she made valuable contributions to the company. Outside of work, Edna was known for her kind and giving spirit. She loved helping others and often expressed the sentiment that she had never been hurt when extending a helping hand to those in need. Edna's selflessness touched the lives of many individuals who were fortunate enough to cross her path. One of Edna's greatest joys in life was crafting. She had a natural talent for creating beautiful pieces with her hands, each one demonstrating her creativity and artistic flair. Additionally, Edna enjoyed spending time with her friends playing bingo. The laughter and camaraderie she shared with them created cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
Edna's proudest accomplishment was her involvement with Full Gospel Holiness Church. She dedicated countless hours volunteering at the church, helping with various initiatives and lending her support wherever it was needed. Her faith played an integral role in her life, providing comfort and guidance along her journey.
Edna Wright Henderson's nurturing and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents Claude Clontz and Louemma Clontz; two brothers, Ray Wright and BIlly Clontz. She is survived by her son Sam Wright and his wife Shirley of Maggie Valley, as well as her granddaughter Ashley Passmore and husband David. Edna was also blessed with great-grandchildren Wyatt Passmore and Emma Wright, who brought immense joy to her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with Ryan Jacobson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Morning Star Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morning Star Community Cemetery Fund at PO Box 1746, Canton, NC 28716.
The care of Edna has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
