Waynesville, Edna Caldwell Ferguson, 75, of 94 Long Street, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Courtyard Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Asheville. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Charlie Ray and Eulala Palmer Caldwell. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lee Ferguson, a son, Timothy Ferguson, a sister, Edith Schleicher and a brother-in-law, Donald Burgman. Edna enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, fishing and traveling. She was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Billie Ferguson; a son, Michael D. Ferguson and his wife, Judy, of Clyde; brother, Dennis Caldwell, and his wife, Mary Lou, of Canton; daughter-in-law, Lynn Ferguson of Waynesville; grandchildren, Phillip Ferguson and his wife, Andrea, of Weaverville and Crystal Ferguson of Canton, great grandchildren, Colbie and Davis Ferguson of Weaverville, and Dawson Ferguson of Canton; sister-in-law, Betty Ruth Burgman of Port Orange, FL; brother-in-law, Jack Ray Ferguson and his wife, Carolyn, of Candler and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2009 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Metcalf officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society-NC Chapter, 1 Southern Pines Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28723.
