Edna Curtis
Crawford
August 23, 1930 – April 26, 2026
Edna Curtis Crawford, 95, loving daughter, wife, mom, mom in love, gee, and great gee. She lived her life and died the way she wanted to, on her terms. Edna passed away at her home in the early morning hours of April 26, 2026.
Edna, like her husband, Wallace, never met a stranger. If you walked through her front door, you became friends or family. She wouldn’t quit until you sit a spell and accepted a coke, cup of coffee or food, by the time you got up to leave, you were family.
Edna loved her family and loved having them around her. not long before she passed away, Edna even had the great joy of meeting the newest member of her family…her new great granddaughter and namesake, Edna Skai. She got to hold her, sing to her and rock lil Edna. Her face lit up so brightly, the whole room got brighter.
Edna Curtis Crawford was born on August 23, 1930, in Haywood County, a life full of love, family and friends. She went home to those who passed on before her. Her mom and dad, Fannie Mae and Rufus Curtis, Margaret Curtis, Francis Rhinehart, Annie Jane Webb, Mary McClure, and Carolyn Curtis and three brothers, Robert, Rufus Jr (Bud), Eugene (Gene) and her husband of 73 years Wallace Crawford.
She is survived by her two sisters Amelia Mullinax of Wilmington, NC, and Marie, loving known as Reddy, Edwards, of Clyde NC, her son, Mark (Sandra) of Waynesville, four grandchildren, Matt (Christy) of Crouse, NC, Aimee Herrera (Santi) of Travis AFB, CA, David and Shawn Crawford of Waynesville, and four great grandchildren, Madalynne Sawyer, Caralynne and Allen Crawford of Crouse NC, and Edna Skai Herrera of Travis AFB, CA.
A celebration of life is planned for May 23, 2026, at 2PM at her home.
Please consider making a donation to Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care. Their address is 13 Haywood Office Park Suite 105, Waynesville, NC 28785. In the final months of Edna’s life, Hospice became a very big and important part of our lives. Between her nurse, chaplain, and the volunteers, they all took very good care of Edna and showed great love and compassion.
WE LOVE YOU BIG!!!
