Eddie Royce
Plemmons
Aug 12, 1953 — Jul 18, 2026
Hot Springs
On the morning of July 18th, Eddie Plemmons passed away at his home on his beloved Spring Creek with his wife of 50 years, Gina Plemmons, by his side. Eddie fought a courageous decade-long battle against pulmonary fibrosis. On July 18th, he was fully healed as he passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior.
Eddie was born on August 12th, 1953, in Spring Creek, Madison County, to Sara Justice Plemmons and Wilbur Dean Plemmons. His family moved to Waynesville when Eddie was a child, and it was always his wish to return to Spring Creek, which he did after his children graduated high school. His love of Spring Creek was shared by his wife, Gina, and they found true peace and happiness together on the Creek.
Eddie attended Western Carolina University to study music, and he had a beautiful voice. He used his talents as a choir director in church, and loved to sing with his sister, Sharon. Over the years, he worked as a police officer for the Maggie Valley and Waynesville Police Departments, and as a deputy for the Haywood County Sheriff’s Department. He also worked for many years for the Champion Paper Mill. Eddie was a resilient man, led by faith, who overcame each battle he faced with grace and dignity, an example of how the love of family and friends, a strong faith in God, and a lot of humor, can help one overcome many obstacles in life.
The most important thing to Eddie was his family. He leaves a strong legacy for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to follow. He loved to hear about their fishing, sports, school and life adventures. He was always a good listener, and his many friends and family members always left a conversation with Eddie feeling better off. Eddie was proud of his family, and felt truly blessed to have the love of his life, Gina, by his side for 50 years.
Left to cherish Eddie’s memory are his wife, Gina Street Plemmons of Spring Creek; his sister, Sharon Plemmons Pitts of Hickory NC; his children: Heidi Whitted (Jason) of Cornelius NC; Heath (Dorcas) Plemmons of Waynesville; Hunter (Morgan) Plemmons of Waynesville; Hannah (Kenny) Orlikowski of Waynesville; and Timothy (Stacey) Street of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren: Avery, Holt and Abe Whitted of Cornelius NC; Drew (Nicole) Plemmons of Canton; Joseph Justice (Abbey) Plemmons of Rutland VT; Jaquira Earley of Rutland VT; Ivy Plemmons of Waynesville; Jay’ceon Plemmons of Waynesville; Bradley and William Plemmons of Waynesville; Paige (Brandon Steppleton) Orlikowski of Waynesville; Allie (Kelsey) McElroy of Waynesville; and Andi and Dani Orlikowski of Waynesville; and his great grandchildren: Waylon McElroy and Boone Steppleton of Waynesville. Eddie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Dean and Sara Justice Plemmons, and his brother-in-law, Clarence “Butch” Pitts.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Lusk Chapel in the Spring Creek Community, at 3:00 PM. A reception at the church, with the family, will follow the service. Donations in Eddie's memory can be made to the local Hospice chapter as they were such a blessing to Eddie & his family in his final days.
The care of Mr. Plemmons has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
