Dudley Edward McFalls, USN, Ret. a highly respected individual known for his service to his country and his dedication to family, passed away peacefully at his residence in Haywood County on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Born on July 31, 1950, in Haywood County, to James Alfred and Betty Fincher McFalls, Dudley spent a life filled with honorable achievements and treasured relationships. He was a man of few words and lived an extremely humble life.
Dudley began his journey towards greatness by receiving a quality education. He proudly graduated from Pisgah High School in 1968, laying the foundation for the future successes he would later achieve.
Mr. McFalls was a true patriot who dedicated 23 years of his life to serving in the United States Navy. Throughout his military career, he exemplified excellence and reached the rank of Master Chief through hard work and unwavering commitment. Dudley's tenure included two noteworthy assignments at Camp David Presidential Retreat during the administrations of President Jimmy Carter and President George H.W. Bush. His exceptional service brought him numerous awards and commendations, reflecting an outstanding level of professionalism and dedication.
Beyond his impressive military achievements, Dudley McFalls was also a beloved family man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clara Trull McFalls, in April of 2023. His passing leaves behind an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
Dudley is survived by his devoted daughter Daphne McFalls Downs (David) of Bethel. He is also survived by his loving sister Mitzi Jane McFalls of Hendersonville.
The joys of Dudley's life extended beyond immediate family as he cherished the presence of three grandchildren: Kaytlyn Pressley (Brittany), Kolby Pressley (Kasee), and Claire Ayala. His legacy further lives on through his three great-grandchildren: Rory, Elara, and Stetson Pressley. Dudley's life was enriched by their love, laughter, and shared experiences.

His integrity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his country and family serve as an inspiration to all who knew him.
