Dr. Thorner

Dr. Donald Romaine M.D., a resident of Canton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Chatham, Ontario, Canada on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 in his 79th year. He is the son of Romaine & Edythe (nee Fraser) Thorner. Beloved husband of Janet. Loving father & father-in-law of Alan & Judy of St. Thomas, William of Flatwood, Kentucky, Alison Kilbride & Tim Diesbourg of Chatham and Erin & Dr. Mike Newell of Chatham. Dear brother of Dr. Lorne & Nancy Thorner of Port Lambton and Ruth of Sarnia. He will be missed by his grandchildren Brett, Kurtis, Dean, Jaclyn, Chloe, Camille, Ashley, Laura, Madeline, Grace & Lee. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Dr. Thorner practiced medicine in Wallaceburg from 1952-1978 and Chattanooga Tennessee from 1978-1999. Don enjoyed playing golf and visiting his family in his retirement. Fueled by extraordinary intelligence, Don was a deep thinker with a beautiful mind who showed an even deeper kindness, compassion and commitment to his patients, peers, family and friends. A celebration of Don's life will be held at the Wells Funeral Home (1-877-257-8289 or www.wellsfuneralhome.com) in Canton, North Carolina on Monday, July 30 at 1 PM. The family will receive relatives & friends in the hour prior. A memorial Graveside Service for family and friends will be conducted at Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga Tenn at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 31, 2007.
