Doyce James Rogers, 97, of 1429 Allens Creek Road, Waynesville, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Doyce was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
A native of Haywood County, Doyce was the son of the late Taylor Harrison Rogers and Virgie Rogers Rogers. Doyce was preceded in death by his wife, of 68 years, Dare Virginia Burris Rogers. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 8 sisters and 6 brothers.
Doyce was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He was a Godly man who loved spending time with his family. He loved helping around his church with anything that needed to be done. Doyce was a United States Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a hard-working man who worked different jobs over his lifetime, but he loved to paint houses and getting to know his customers.
Doyce is survived by his daughter, Dona Potts and her husband, Eddie, of Sylva; Son, Doug Rogers and his wife, Terri, of Canton; Grandson, Noah Rogers and his wife, Hanna, of Canton; and great-grandson, Easton of Canton.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Putnam officiating, family and friends are welcome. Doyce will lie in state at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM for anyone who would like to stop by and sign the register.
The family would like to thank everyone at Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care for the excellent care given to Doyce. Very special thanks to Sharon Hinshaw who lovingly cared for him and to Bruce Lynn who as there with the family when Doyce entered his heavenly home.
