Douglas Clemmons

Asheville – Douglas McArthur “Mac” Clemmons, 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.

Mac was a native of Buncombe County and a son of the late Bill and Ella Clemmons.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Hopper Clemmons.  Mac was a part-time professional wrestler and formerly employed at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s office.  He attended Erwin Hills Baptist Church in Leicester.

He is survived by his wife of 6 ½ years, Barbara Pressley Grant Clemmons; two daughters, Christy Miller of Charlotte and Jessica Grant of Asheville; two sons, Jason Grant (Chasity) of Asheville and Michael Grant of Weaverville; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Erwin Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Andy McDevitt and Pastor Clarence “Bear” Ingle officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.  Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler.
