Dorothy Lee Bailey Brown

Dorothy Lee Bailey Brown, passed away peacefully January 19, 2024 at the age of 102 ½ years old. Dorothy was born in Marshall, NC on August 7, 1921.  She was a native of Madison County but a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Curtis Hascue Bailey and Mildia Burnette Lowe Bailey.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Andy” Brown; son, Ray Brown; granddaughter, JoAnn Brown; grandson, Jeff Brown; brothers, Glen, Paul, Albert, Grady and Everette Bailey and sisters, Bertha Dockery, Dollie Warren and Margaret Ann Crowder.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruby Knapp; sons, Robert (Barbara) and Roy (Mary Ellen); daughter-in-law, Angela Brown Moser; sisters, Ruby Nash, Gladys Huffman, Louise Meeker, Earlene Hensley and Faye Clement; brother, Howard Bailey and companion, Mark Shelton; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The care of Mrs. Brown has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
