Doris Pressley went to be with Jesus on September 11, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family, who embraced her as they sang hymns together in Buncombe County, North Carolina, leaving behind a legacy rich in love, faith, and family.
Doris was known as a true prayer warrior; her heart was always directed toward serving others. Her unwavering faith led her to travel across the United States and to various countries, including Haiti, to conduct missionary work beginning in 1979. Doris dedicated her life to sharing the love and word of Jesus Christ, fostering connections wherever she went, and diligently nurturing the relationships she formed. Her kind spirit was complemented by her remarkable ability to find joy in singing hymns; she could always find a hymn fitting for any situation, adding warmth and comfort to those around her.
Her personality shone brightly with her generous nature, as she never met a stranger and always reached out to help others in need. Doris was an “Angel on Earth,” and her absence will be deeply felt during family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, as these were times she cherished and filled with love.
A devoted wife for 65 years to her late husband, Robert Wayne Pressley, Doris embodied the spirit of compassion and nurturing in death by her parents, Julius and Allie Mashburn, her son, Philip Pressley, her son-in-law, Daniel "Terry" Medford, and three sisters.
She was a proud mother to her three daughters, Rebekah Pressley Medford, Hope Denney, and Joy Pressley Sharp. Doris was especially devoted to her grandchildren, Kimberley Dillehay, Daniel Medford, Jr., Dewayne Pressley, Tabatha Pressley, Daniel Reid, Jr., Shania Sharp, and Eliya Sharp, as well as her 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Widely loved and respected, Doris is also survived by her sisters, Leona Burnette, Deann Noland, Darlene Long, and Kathy Clark, her brother J.L. Mashburn, and sister-in-law Debra Pressley. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she derived immense joy from spending time with them.
