Doris Mckinnish

Clyde – Doris Brown McKinnish, 90, passed away peacefully and Heaven gained a faithful follower on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Glenn D. and Mary Torrence Brown.  She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Alvin Eugene McKinnish, who passed away in 1975.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn W. and Howell C. Brown.  Doris was a graduate of Mars Hill College.  She took pride in her family, her church family at Clyde First Baptist, and loved being outside mowing her lawn and tending her flowers until her health failed in later years.  Doris was also an avid Carolina basketball fan.

She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Justice of Clyde; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kelli McKinnish of Canton.  She also leaves a legacy of four grandchildren, Kimberly Dechant of Asheville, Kristy Melton of Bethel, Jennifer Burton of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Jonathan McKinnish of Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Clyde with the Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

At other times, the family will be at the home of Keith and Kelli McKinnish.
