Canton, Doris Kathryn Nichols Kerley, age 91, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Autumn Care.
A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Elsie Moore Nichols. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester H. Reece and Harry Kerley; sons, Eddie and Wayne Reece; daughter, Kathy R. Francis; a sister; and three brothers. Doris was employed by Wellco for 21 years in the cutting department. She was a member of Balsam Missionary Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed sewing, cross stitching and reading her bible.
Doris is survived by a stepdaughter, Donna Kerley; son, Thomas L. Reece, Sr. of Canton; four grandchildren, Brandee Henson (Blake), Haley Reece Dickerson (Matthew), Thomas Reece, Jr. (Beth) and Clayton Reece; six great-grandchildren, John Burnett, Madison Moody, Isaiah Reece, Hannah Reece, Emma Reece and Elijah Reece; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time at the church.
The care of Mrs. Kerley has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
