Donald Smith

Waynesville, Donald Everett Smith, age 73, passed away on July 22 at Medwest-Haywood. Son of Cumi Moody Smith and the late Everett Smith, he was preceded in death by a grandson Brandon "Kaz" Wilson and a brother Bobby Smith. Don was a fishing and car enthusiast who had a wonderful personality and loved to joke with his friends and family. He had a special dog, "Sheba". In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Smith; two daughters, Donna Caldwell of Sylva and Zelda Smith of Waynesville; two sisters, Betty Greenarch of Waynesville and Elizabeth Smith of Canton; and one brother, Hugh Smith and his wife, Ellafaye, of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Charles Creasman officiating. Receiving of friends will be from 12:30 p.m.until 2:15 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may b e made to Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 931, Waynesville, NC 28786.
