Donald Reece

Waynesville, Donald Gene Reece, age 64, of Chestnut Park, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Nelcy Loranze Reece, Sr. and Margaret Inman Reece and also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Reece. Donald was a former employee of the Tannery and worked as a meat cutter at McKays Grocery. Spending time with his family was very important to him and he also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He was a member of Burnette Siding Baptist Church. Donald is survived by a sister, Brenda Greene and her husband, Paul, of Canton; two brothers, Nelcy Reece, Jr. and his wife, Leatha and Ronnie Reece and his wife, Peggy, all of Canton; and a special friend and healthcare provider, Oma Lee Gunter, of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Sunburst Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad and Carroll Morgan, Anthony Greene, Donald Revis and Jeff, Wayne, and David Reece. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
