Donald Liford

Haywood- Donald Liford, 89, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by family.

A native to Haywood County, N.C. Donald worked with the town of Canton for over 40 years, supervising all of the landfill and surrounding areas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville “Shorty” Liford and Leona Cowan Liford, and by his brother Kenny Liford of Granbury, Texas; sisters Gladys Liford Hill of Jasper, Florida; and Ruth Liford along with his late beloved wife Hattie Trantham Liford who passed away in 2021. 

Donald is survived by his sisters Carolyn Rudisill, Juanita Hall, Anita Scott of Mosheim, Tennessee, and Wanda Goodson. Sons, Roger Dale (Joy) and Darrell Wayne Liford (Patricia), along with 5 Grandchildren, 17 great-grand and 15 great-great grandchildren who will all miss him dearly.

A celebration of life for Donald will be held at Wells Funeral Home of Canton on Friday, November 28th at 2 PM with Pastor Robert Lane officiating.
