Donald Fowler

Canton – Donald Clifford Fowler, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Donald was a son of the late Paul and Ruby Wilson Fowler and a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Fowler.  Don retired from Champion International with 38 years of service and was a life-long member of Morning Star United Methodist Church.  He was an avid guitar and banjo player and enjoyed attending and playing at Canton’s Pickin’ in the Park.  He and Nancy frequently camped at Lake Chatuge where they enjoyed time with each other while attending music festivals and fellowshipping with friends at the campground.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy Burch Fowler; two sons, Steve Fowler and wife, Donna, of Canton and Scott Fowler and Karen of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Geoffrey and wife Madelaine Fowler, Kristen, Christopher and Joshua Fowler; and one great-grandson, Abel Fowler.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Morning Star Community Cemetery with the Reverend Nicole Jones officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
