Diane Evola
Miles
Mar 10, 1944 — Oct 21, 2026
Waynesville
Diane Evola Miles, 82, of Waynesville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Diane was born on March 10, 1944, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Raymond and Janie (Pitzer) NeSmith. She grew up in Georgia, where she graduated from high school and later welcomed two children, James and Lori. Life eventually brought her together with her husband, Jimmy, and their family grew with the adoption of their son, Daniel, at just six months old. After living in several places throughout the years, the family eventually made their home in Waynesville.
Diane was a loving mother who found her greatest happiness in the simple joys of life. She enjoyed tending to her garden, growing beautiful flowers, baking cakes, and spending time with her family and friends. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her beloved dog, Bernie. Throughout her life, Diane worked at Walmart, where she served as both a greeter and in the pharmacy. She was also a member of Botsford Baptist Church in Georgia.
Those who knew Diane will fondly remember her spirited personality and her love for life. As her family lovingly described her, she was "feisty, but in the best way possible." She had a way of bringing a little extra personality and laughter wherever she went, and her presence will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
Above all, Diane treasured her family, and the love and memories she leaves behind will remain in their hearts for years to come.
Diane is survived by her son, Daniel (Lou) Miles; and a grandson; In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Barkley; a daughter, Lori Way; Stepfather, Paul Pitzer; and her brother, Uncle “Porky.”
The care of Mrs. Miles has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
