Dewey Fowler, Jr.

Waynesville-Dewey Fowler, Jr., age 55, of 162 Butternut Lane, Pickens, SC, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2005 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Dewey Ardon Fowler and Ellen Presley Fowler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Arden Fowler; a sister, Joyce Matthews; and two brothers, Billy and Frank Fowler. He is survived by his wife, Betty Rathbone Fowler; a daughter, Ellen Pressley and her husband, Nicholas, of Waynesville; two stepdaughters, Kelly West and her husband, Angelo, of Cherokee and Mary Ann Parker of Clyde; for stepsons, Reverend David Hedrick and his wife, Cindy, of Weaverville, Avery "Junior" Haney of Asheville, and Melvin Smith and his wife, Natalie, and Chris Mintz, all of Waynesville; four sisters, Gail Shelton of Central, SC, Jackie Woody of Pickens, SC, Vera Robinson of Gastonia, NC and Velda Rice of Canton; three brothers, Ernest Lynn Fowler of Pickens, SC, Robert Fowler of Six Mile, SC and Keith Fowler of Waynesville; and 17 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 on Sunday, November 27, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend David Hedrick officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
