David Lee "Tater" Tatham, age 48, died Monday, January 11, 2010, at Mission Hospitals, St. Josephs Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Leamon and Georgia Clark Tatham. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Steven Clark. He was owner of Tatham's Heating and Plumbing and Bethel Self Storage and was a member of East Fork Baptist Church. David was a loving husband and father, whose greatest joy was his daughters. He had a great sense of adventure and enjoyed trying new things. David loved horses as well as hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake with family and friends. He was a loyal friend and always willing to help anyone in need. He will always be remembered as a quiet man with an infectious smile. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Dianne Heatherly Tatham; a step son, Kyle Brookshire; two daughters, Kayla and Kourtney Tatham; three sisters, Jo Ann Murray, Nancy Ammons, and Gail Henson and two brothers, Stewart Michael Clark and John Tatham. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, at East Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David Lee Tatham Memorial Fund, c/o Old Town Bank, 2045 South Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786, for Kayla and Kourtney's education.
