Waynesville-David "Bud" Penland, age 77, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Canton Christian Convalscent Center. He was a native of Haywood County and was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Hugh and Florence Lenoir York Penland and two sisters, Lura Penland and Billie Frances Penland. Bud was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. He is survived by two sisters, Barbara Jean and Annie Geneva Penland of Waynesville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Riley Covin officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
