David Hardin Inman, Captain Haywood County Sheriff's Office, Retired, age 60, of Spruce Street died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Doyle and Opal Collette Inman. He was a member of North Hazelwood Baptist Church. David served as a member of the Haywood County Sheriff's Office, retiring in 1997 as Captain with 27 years of faithful service to the citizens of Haywood County. He was a member of the Retired Peace Officers Association and was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam conflict. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Peggy Inman; three daughters, Libby Inman, Denise Herndon and her husband, Ray, and Amanda Inman all of Canton; a son, Sammy Inman and his fiancé, Rachel Pate, of Fayetteville; a family friend, Charles Justice; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Ruff officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with law enforcement and military honors conducted by the Haywood County Sheriff's Office. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home. Pallbearers will be Sheriff Tom Alexander, Jimmy Parton, Dean Henline, Bobby Suttles, Tommy Parris, Gerald Wiggins, Turville Inman, and Beacher Phillips.
