David Stamey

Canton, David Stamey, 75, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Memorial Mission Campus.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Edward & Ruby Bumgardner Stamey.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Louise, who passed away one day prior on Wednesday.

David owned Hilltop and Handy Market Convenience Stores and later two gift shops in Maggie Valley.  He loved to trade with people and loved being with his family and wife.

David is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Grahl, and her husband, Derrick; son, David “Eddie” Stamey Jr; brother, Robert “Butch” Stamey; and two grandchildren, Todd Grahl and Colton Hightower.

A joint graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Pisgah View Memorial Park with Pastor Terry Green officiating.
