Daniel Wayne "Kink" Ledbetter

Waynesville, Daniel Wayne “Kink” Ledbetter, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 11:11 a.m. at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation.  A native of Haywood County, Kink was the son of the late Charles and Florence Warren Ledbetter.  He is also preceded in death by a son, David Ledbetter and one brother, Fred Ledbetter.

Kink was of the Baptist Faith.  He worked at the Enka plant for 23 years before starting a new job as a Rewinder at Champion International.  Kink retired from Champion after a faithful 20 years of service and commitment to his job there.

Kink loved a good walk, bowling, playing cards, and horseshoes.  Above all, Kink loved being with his family.  

Left to cherish Kinks memory girlfriend of 34 years, Jo Messer; one son, Michael Ledbetter and wife Anna Ledbetter; mother of his children, Peggy Ledbetter; a daughter-in-law, Amber Ledbetter; one sister, Patricia Blanton; one brother, Harold Ledbetter.

Papaw helped raise two grandchildren Meme Harbin and Tyler Ramsey and four step kids Cindy Messer, Michael Phillips, Annie (Brian Lanning), Leslie Harbin.  He is also survived by three grandchildren Blake, Tyler, and Kali; and four great-grandchildren, Rylan, Valencia, Nova Lee, and Cora.

Per Mr. Ledbetter’s wishes, no services will be held.

The care of Mr. Ledbetter has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville
