Clayton Suggs

It is with great sadness that the family of Clayton DeWitt Suggs announces his unexpected passing on Friday, September 28, 2018 in Greensboro, NC at the age of 29. He was born July 2, 1989 in Norfolk, VA. He grew up in Waynesville, NC, where he attended Tuscola High School and then Western Carolina University. Clay embraced life, had a passion for poetry, reading, outdoor adventure, sports, hunting, fishing, and his Jeep. He truly loved his family, his friends and the Lord.

Clay is survived by his adoring family, parents, Michele & Rick Rogers of Clyde, NC and Matthew & Lee Anna Suggs of Wilmington, NC; a brother, Bradley Suggs and his partner Jacqueline Nobrega of Longmont, CO; a nephew, Wyatt Suggs; grandparents, Joseph & Ellie Marasco of Norfolk, VA, Ivey Suggs of Newport, TN, Marlene Suggs of Waynesville, NC, Patsy & Dick Rogers of Lake Junaluska, NC and Roger & Sandy Gwinn of Meadow Bridge, WV; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends, too many to list.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Chris Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Clay's name to The Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge, P.O. Box 77914, Greensboro, NC, 27417.
