Clarence Everette Redmond, born on September 10, 1938, in Candler, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was a man whose life was marked by dedication to both his profession and his community, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Clarence devoted 32 years of his life to Greyhound Bus Lines, where he worked tirelessly as a professional driver. His commitment to his job was a testament to his strong work ethic and his desire to serve others. Clarence also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class from 1957 until 1960, a period that reflected his values of duty and responsibility.
Beyond his career, Clarence is remembered for his generous spirit. He was known as a hard worker and consistently lent a helping hand to those in need, particularly to widows. His nurturing character extended to his love of gardening, where he took great pride in tending to his vegetable garden, growing food not only for himself but also for his beloved wife, Dottie B. Redmond. Clarence’s meticulous nature was evident in every aspect of his life; he maintained his yard, lawnmowers, vehicles, and motorcycles with great care, enjoying the process of washing and waxing them by hand.
A member of Idlewild Baptist Church for 50 years, Clarence demonstrated unwavering faith and commitment to his community. His involvement with the church was likely a source of strength, providing him with a supportive network and fulfilling relationships over the decades.
Clarence was a loving husband to his wife of 60 years, Dottie, who resides in Matthews, North Carolina. He is also survived by his brother Franklin Redmond and his wife Glenda of Candler, and numerous cherished nieces and nephews who will undoubtedly remember him fondly. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Steven Lee Redmond and Lillie Mae Burnett Redmond, who played significant roles in shaping the values and character that Clarence carried throughout his life.
The services honoring Clarence's life will be held on August 25, 2025. There will be a visitation at the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler. Pastor Josh DeHart will be officiating.
Clarence Everette Redmond lived a life full of purpose, showing kindness and diligence to those around him. As friends and family gather to celebrate his memory, they will undoubtedly reflect on the love and warmth he imparted throughout his remarkable life. He will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered.
The care of Mr. Redmond has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home at Forest Lawn.
