Clarence Plemmons

Canton - Clarence R. Plemmons, age 86, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late James & Eva King Plemmons. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jency Mae Plemmons, who died in 1983 and a son, Clarence "Ron" Plemmons. Clarence was employed with Champion International for 35 years when he retired in 1983 and a United States Army veteran. He loved fishing and camping at Happy Holiday Campground and his two "boys" Oscar and Little, his little dogs.

He is survived by one son, Tracy Plemmons and his wife, Sheila, of Candler; a daughter-in-law, Janice Plemmons of Canton; five grandchildren, Stacy Plemmons, Veronica Barton and her husband, Wes, Andy Plemmons and his wife, Carli, Shana Mandeville and her husband, Austin and Jimmy Plemmons, and five great-grandchildren, Bethany and Nicholas Barton, Dakota and Nicholas Plemmons, and Aiden Mandeville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend David Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
