Clara Swanger

Waynesville-Clara Ross Swanger, age 78, of 55 Swanger Lane, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Autumn Care Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Roy H. Ross, Sr. and Amanda Henson Ross. She was a retired employee of 29 years at Dayco Corporation and a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Swanger, who died in 2002; one grandson, Joseph Michael Swanger; one sister, Geneva Smart; and a brother, Brown Ross. She is survived by one son, Michael Swanger and his wife, Martha and her grandson, Matthew Swanger, all of Waynesville; three sisters, Ruby Boyd and her husband, Joe, of Waynesville, Louise Worley of Barnardsville, and Betty Buckner and her husband, Lloyd of Etowah; four brothers, Roy H. Ross, Jr. and his wife, Ann, Taylor Ross and his wife, Dot, Ben Ross and his wife, Marie, and Ralph Ross and his wife, Barbara, all of Waynesville; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Interment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to services.
