Waynesville, Christopher Ellison “Chris” Sorrells, 53, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Mission Hospital.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Otis and Brenda Tate Sorrells.  He was a 1983 graduate of Tuscola High School and a 2017 graduate of Liberty University.  He served in the US Army and could be described in three words, caring, compassionate and inquisitive.  He loved to learn and had a desire to further his knowledge through his reading, especially history.  Chris cherished the time he spent with family at Lake Greenwood where many special memories were made.  Chris was an avid Clemson Tigers football fan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sheila Sorrells; a daughter, Lauren Sorrells and her fiancé, Javin; mother-in-law, Mildred Brown; three grandchildren, Aaliyah, Samuel and Hendrix; and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Tim McConnell officiating.
