Christopher Lane

Dr. Christopher Herbert Lane, 64, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018.

A native of Kingsport, Tennessee, Chris was the son of the late Guy Edward and Edith Estelle McAmis Lane. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marion; three daughters, Colleen Carswell and husband, Charlie, of Waynesville, Katie Wright and her husband, Isaiah, and Mary Claire Lane, all of Charlotte; two sisters, Judy Kendig and her husband, Franklin, and Penny Brooks and her husband, Phillip, both of Knoxville, Tennessee; two brothers, Jerry Lane and his wife, Trula, of Marion, South Carolina and Chip Lane of Loris, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Christopher and Callahan Carswell and Phinneas Wright.

In 1985, Chris began practicing medicine in Anson County, North Carolina. Chris, along with Dr. Bob Peterson, opened Haywood Women's Medical Center in 1989 where he practiced for 26 years. Most recently, he was practicing with OB Hospitalist Group at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Virginia.

Chris was known for his quick wit, calm demeanor, and an unsurpassable love for his family. He lived life to the fullest through his passion for traveling; his favorite destination being Walt Disney World, with or without the kids. Chris touched countless lives through his vocation. He considered it an honor to be part of the birth journey. Chris was a man rooted in his faith and cherished each life as precious. A true galactic hero, Chris was loved, to infinity and beyond.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Wells Funeral Home Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Lake Junaluska Memorial Chapel with Reverend C. Owen Fulghum officiating. Reception following the service will be at The Harrell Center Auditorium. A private burial will be held at a later date.
