Charlie Junior "Chubbs" Rogers

June 24, 1939 — August 17, 2025

Waynesville

Charlie "Chubbs" Rogers, a beloved storyteller and spirited soul, entered the gates of Heaven on August 17, 2025.

Surrounded by the beauty of Haywood County, NC, where he was born on June 24, 1939, but he always celebrated his birthday on the 25th. Renowned for living life to the fullest and always on his terms, Charlie lit up every room he entered. His contagious laughter and his storytelling kept friends and family in tears. With his adventurous nature, he could often be found roaming the woods and streams.

In his childhood, Charlie, affectionately known as "Footlog," embodied the mischievousness of youth. As he grew, he embraced a new nickname, "Chubbs," a title crafted by the love shared with his sons and cherished grandchildren. Charlie embraced his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; his sons, Mike and Larry Rogers, along with their respective wives, Maria and Gabriel, were his proud legacy.

His heart and soul swelled with pride for his grandchildren: Brooke Ashe and her husband Timothy, Jacob Rogers and his wife Paige, Heather Rogers and her partner Caroline, Kyle Rogers and his husband Tyler, Blake Rogers and his wife Kati, and Allison Rogers. Each of them are a radiant reflection of the love and dedication he poured into their lives. Charlie found profound joy in his great-grandchildren, Amelia, Creed, Jett, Waylon, and Ledger, each a blessing that invigorated his zest for life.

Charlie was not alone in his journeys. He shared countless adventures with his good friend Earl Rogers, whose companionship enriched Charlie's experiences; together creating memories that echoed through the woods. Dale, another steadfast companion, eagerly participated in their escapades, never turning down the chance for frog legs, bringing an infectious sense of shenanigans to their gatherings.

Charlie is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Patsy Irene Rogers, and his son, Gary Rogers, who have welcomed him back into their embrace. He was also preceded in death by his parents, William Claude Rogers and Lillie Williams Rogers, along with his brothers, Floyd Rogers, Lee Mills, and Claude Mills, who undoubtedly greet him with warmth and laughter.

The story of Charlie "Chubbs" Rogers is one of a man who embodied joy, adventure, and the unwavering commitment to his family—a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved him. In every walk through the woods and on every road he sped down, he lived vibrantly, leaving behind a wealth of memories that will be cherished for generations to come.

A visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm, on Thursday, August 21st, at Old River Baptist Church of Waynesville, NC, with Pastor Nathan Ashe providing a short Bible reading and congregational prayer at 7 pm, with the visitation to resume.
