Charles Thomason

Clyde - Charles Wayne Thomason, age 61, died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Haywood County and had lived most of his life here. He was a son of the late Homer and Thelma Ferguson Thomason and was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Thomason and a sister, Shelby Jean Thomason. Mr. Thomason was a graduate of Pisgah High School, a United States Marine veteran, a long haul truck driver and a member of New Covenant Church. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Henderson Thomason of Clyde; five daughters, Michelle McElroy of Tampa, FL, Danielle McElroy of Canton, Lisa Thomason of Clyde, Holly Thomason of Leicester, and April Thomason of Asheville; three sisters, Nancy Rose and Mildred Crawford both of Canton and Linda Sorrells of South Carolina, and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Memorials may be made to the Haywood County Schools Foundation, 1230 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
