Charles Stevenson

Hiawassee, Georgia formerly of Clyde – Charles Wayne Stevenson, 86, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at his residence.

Wayne was a native of Haywood County but had resided in Georgia for over 30 years and was a son of the late Harley and Argyle Leatherwood Stevenson.  He was a 1953 graduate of Clyde High School and retired from Blue Ridge Paper with over 40 years of service.  Wayne served as a high school athletic official calling many games throughout Western North Carolina in football, basketball, and softball.

He is survived by a daughter, Dana Burnette (Billy) of Clyde; a son, Bruce Stevenson (Pam) of Waynesville; one brother, Cecil “Cotton” Stevenson of Clyde; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Canton First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Gordon Pike officiating.
