Charles Rogers

Deep Gap, NC - Charles William Rogers, 55, slipped into the hands of our Heavenly Father on Monday, July 30, 2018.

A native of Haywood County, Charles was the son of Bill Jack and the late Regina Ferguson Rogers. Charles was a loyal and loving husband, a supportive son, brother, uncle, a rock-solid nephew, cousin and the best friend a person could have. His large stature was rivaled only by his even larger heart. He was a well-respected face to many and a long-time member of the Deep Gap Ruritan Club and was head grill master at their annual reverse raffles. General Manager of Appalachian Energy in Boone, he also was a member of the NC LP Gas Association PERF Committee. Charles owned WAVE Construction and was a licensed general contractor and electrician.

Charles had a way of connecting with people and was forever willing to donate his time and talents for the greater good or a worthy cause-especially for a friend in need. He was kind, genuine and fair. To have known him was to appreciate and respect him. Fly high and rest easy our friend! Our hearts will miss you until we meet again.

In addition to his father, Charles is survived by his wife, Billie Smith Rogers; sisters, Margaret Ann Rogers and her husband, David, of Waynesville and Martha Kay Winfrey and her husband, Eric, of Mechanicsville, Virginia; and his nieces and nephews of which he was most proud, Brian, Sarah, and Maggie Rogers, Rachael, Lauren and Erica Winfrey, and Emily, Ben and Joey Boykin.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 prior to services at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church, 1128 Max Patch Road, Clyde, NC. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Dr. Keith Turman will officiate. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
