Charles Henry Free

Charles Henry Free, age 83, of the Crabtree community went to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 11, 2024.  He was the son of the late John and Effie Stewart Free.

Charles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Brenda McCracken Free; sons, Charles Curtis Free of Canton and William Henry "Billy" Free of Bethel; three granddaughters who were his pride and joy, Sarah Free and Emily Free, both of Robbinsville, and Mary Gaddis (Logan) of Waynesville; sister, Helen Wheeler (Jesse) of Sanford, NC; brother, Calvin Free (Sherry) of Morganton, GA; brothers-in-law, Troy McCracken (Joyce) and Thad McCracken (June); sister-in-law, Karen Clark; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was a Security Officer at BASF and an Army veteran serving in Germany.  He was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher.  He loved the Lord and loved serving him.  He always had a mission to help others and to share his salvation experience with them.  Charles will be missed by his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery with Pastor Davis Plemmons and Reverend Josh Evans officiating.
