Catherine Franklin

Waynesville, Catherine Grant Franklin, age 78, of Crymes Cove Road died Friday, January 29, 2010, at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Ruby Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Franklin who died in 1993; two sisters, Bonnie Klein and Lucille Cook; three brothers, Jack, Clay, and Lee Grant. She worked at Dayco for more than 40 years and at Lake Junaluska Assembly for eight years and was a member of Ninevah Baptist Church. Catherine was a selfless woman whose mission in life was to care for her family. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Franklin and her fiancé, Kenny Allen of Candler; three nieces, Alberta Reed and Reba Singleton of Waynesville, and June Grant of Kitty Hawk; two nephews, Doug Cook of Minneapolis and Steve Grant of Kitty Hawk; six sister-in-laws; Betty James, Cleta Franklin, Peg Dietz, Louise Franklin, and Edith Grant all of Waynesville and Betty Grant of Kitty Hawk; and three grandchildren, Ashley and Jared Hicks and Cameron Moody. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Ruff officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
