Catherine Cogburn

Canton-Catherine Thomason Cogburn-89 formerly of Henson Cove, died Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Jesse and Nell Smith Thomason. She was the wife of the late Doyce E. Cogburn who died in 1992 and was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Thomason.
She was a member of Canton First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Center Pigeon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn McDowell and her husband Buddy of Canton, two sons, Robert R. Cogburn and his wife Margaret of Canton, Kerry P. Cogburn and his wife Barbara of Clyde, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Dr. Rick Gosnell officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at her son, Kerry Cogburn, 272 Stoney Brook Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
