Candler – Carroll H. Walker, 74, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at his residence.
Carroll was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Woodrow and Alma Lemmons Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Dawson Jeffrey Walker. Carroll was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam and retired from IMOCO with 15 years of service. He trained, showed, and raised Tennessee Walking horses for over 40 years. Carroll was a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. Throughout Carroll’s life and after many personal and health challenges, he maintained a beautiful spirit and a willingness to always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Carroll also had a love for cooking and would cook for his family on special occasions.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Vicki Stamey Walker. He was the love of her life for 52 years. Survivors also include his daughter, Amy Marie Walker of Jonesborough, Tennessee; son, Andrew Carroll Walker (Barbra) of Candler; one grandson, Colby Padgett; two sisters, Louise Osborne (Rex) of West Jefferson, NC and Margaret McLean (Doug) of Sebring, Fl.; a special friend and fellow horseman, J. R. Honeycutt of Asheville; and his dog, Sadie.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Reverend Malcolm McCarson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
