Carrie Harkins

Wilson, NC - Carrie Franklin Harkins, age 94, died Friday, August 24, 2007 at Wilson Medical Center. She was a native of Jackson County but lived in Buncombe County for 57 years prior to moving to Wilson, NC. She was a daughter of the late Elias David and Virginia Hoyle Franklin and was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Turner Harkins. Carrie worked as a LPN with Oteen Veterans Hospital for 15 years. She is survived by one son, Reverend William "Bill" Harkins and his wife, Mary Vernon, of Wilson, NC; two grandchildren, Franklin Taylor Harkins, and his wife, Angela, of Stamford, CT and Vernon Albert Harkins and his wife, Anne, of Goldsboro, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Faith and Heather Grace Harkins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-a-Venture Cemetery on the Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church, 525 Old US 19/23 Hwy, Candler, NC 28715.
