Katherine Carolyn Davis Metts, born in Haywood County, January 28, 1941, to the late Paul and Kathleen Hamrick Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Alan Davis Metts who died in 1997, and her beloved husband, Bill, who died in 2015.

Carolyn attended schools in Haywood County, Mars Hill College, and graduated from Kings College in Charlotte, N.C. She worked for Pilot Life Insurance Company in Atlanta, Georgia; University of Kentucky Medical College in Lexington, Kentucky; The Bouligny Company in Charlotte, N.C.; and most recently had co-owned and worked as an Insurance Agent and Realtor at The L. N. Davis Company. She was a former President of Haywood County Board of Realtors and she received the distinguished honor of Realtor of the Year Award.

She was a member of the Asheville Symphony, Altrusa of Waynesville, Hospital Auxiliary at Haywood Regional Medical Center and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Carolyn was an avid NC State fan and enjoyed playing Canasta, Rummikub, and working puzzles. She shared many a laugh and a few “phooeys” in the family group text, especially when the Wolfpack were on TV. She also thoroughly enjoyed her Friday lunch bunch at various restaurants around town. She loved her nieces and nephews, so much that their names were often intertwined. To know her was to love her! Her sweet laughter and kind heart could be felt by all who knew her.

She was a lifelong member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church where she served as Treasurer of the Women in Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for a number of years.

She is survived by her sister, Kathy Lance and her husband, Gary; brother, Paul Davis and his wife Karon; four nieces, Merritt Tongen (Mark), Susanna Meyer (Scot), Catherine Davis (Helen Joyce), and Vanessa Davis (Brian), one nephew, Paul Davis, III (Jesse), great-nieces and great-nephews, Calder, Hayes, and Hattie Katherine Tongen, Corinne and Oliver Meyer, Rose Davis, Elise Cohen, and Dashiel and Jolene Davis, as well as several cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Hazelwood Presbyterian Church with Reverend Patrick Womack and Reverend Bill Clark officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
