Carolyn Gaddis Goble

Carolyn Gaddis Goble, a beloved figure in her community and a cherished guardian of her family, passed away on August 30, 2025, at the Solace Center in Asheville, NC. Born on October 24, 1939, in Haywood County, Carolyn's life was a reflection of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.

A proud graduate of Waynesville Township High School, class of 1958, Carolyn launched a distinguished career that included serving as an administrator for Family Care Homes across Haywood County, as well as a Certified Nursing Assistant for nursing homes in the area. For many years, she worked diligently at Parkdale Mills in Gastonia, demonstrating her compassion and commitment to caring for others until her retirement.

Known for her independence and strong-willed nature, Carolyn was a true embodiment of resilience. She was family-oriented and exuded warmth, becoming the cornerstone upon which her family relied. To her family, she was not just a maternal figure, but a comforting presence known affectionately as "Nanny." Her love for playing B-I-N-G-O and cards brought joy to her life, and her fondness for shopping and fishing in her younger years were cherished memories. Above all, she found happiness in spending time with her family, whether it was at church, sharing meals, or embarking on trips together, always eager to be where her loved ones were.

Carolyn leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters, Debbie Gentry and husband Danny of Jonathan Creek, and Elizabeth James and husband Alan of Crabtree. She is also survived by five grandsons: Jason Gentry of Waynesville, Aaron Gentry of Waynesville, Matthew Gentry and wife Cynthia of Clyde, Joseph Hoglen and wife Hannah of Clyde, and Justin Hoglen of Clyde. Her legacy will continue through her great-granddaughter, Abagail Hoglen, and four great-grandsons: Owen Hoglen, Brayden Hoglen, Sawyer Hoglen, and Ian Bryson. Carolyn's sister, Juanita Maney of Waynesville, along with several nieces and nephews, will also carry her spirit forward.

Carolyn has been reunited with those who preceded her in death, including her husband, Johnny Goble, who passed away in 2010. She is also joined in eternal rest with her brothers, Charles Gaddis, William Gaddis, and Gerald "Bud" Gaddis; her parents, Rev. Robert and Emma Shelton Gaddis; her infant daughter, Glenda Sue Trammell; her grandson, Adam James Gentry; and her great-grandson, Aidan Lee Hoglen.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at James Chapel Church located at 94 James Chapel Road in Clyde, NC, beginning at 2:00 PM.
