Carolyn Sue Gaddy

Carolyn Sue Gaddy, 74, born on September 2, 1950, in Haywood County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Stewart Gaddy "old man", who passed away in 2006, along with her parents, Latham Gillett and Georgia Beck Gillett. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Gillett and her first cousin, Kathy Mehaffey.

Carolyn dedicated much of her working life to serving others, having worked at Chasam before retiring from her role in housekeeping at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Her commitment to her profession was matched only by her devotion to her family and friends.

Throughout her life, Carolyn cherished the simple joys of exploration and connection. She loved taking short trips, relishing the scenic drives to Tennessee and over to Strawberry Hill's. Her fond memories included shopping trips with her daughter, April Gillett, and her dear friend, Jane Mills and Kim Rogers. Carolyn's personality shone brightly in the community. She was a member of the Ratcliff Cove Baptist Church, where she fostered relationships that enriched her life.

Carolyn's hobbies brought her great happiness. She was a passionate collector of ceramic pigs, with a remarkable collection of over 2,000 different pieces. This unique interest brought her joy and became a point of pride, reflecting her spirited nature.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted daughter, April Gillett; her step-son, Perry Gaddy; her brother, Ronnie Gillett (Bobbie); and two nieces, Marsha Northrup (Eric) and Hollie Hughes (Craig). She also leaves behind five great-nieces: Abigail Northrup, Hannah, Haley, Hope Hughes, and Michelle Taylor. Carolyn shared close ties with her first cousins, Karen Mehaffey and Dwight Mehaffey

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Ratcliff Cove Baptist Church with Reverend Keith Beck, Reverend Lee Brooks and Reverend Tracy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church.
